Eira Creek Golden Guernseys

Meet the Golden Guernsey.A rare heritage dairy goat with a remarkable story.

At Eira Creek, we are helping develop the Golden Guernsey in America through compassionate animal care, thoughtful breeding, education, and long-term stewardship of this special breed.

Why Golden Guernseys?

There is a lot to love about this little golden goat.

Golden Guernseys are known for their flowing coats, warm golden coloring, moderate size, gentle temperament, and dairy character.

Their story is just as remarkable as their appearance. Golden Guernseys survived near disappearance and the German occupation of Guernsey during World War II. Today, breeders are working to protect the qualities that make them distinctive and build a strong future for the breed.

The Golden Guernsey

Not Your Everyday Dairy Goat

Golden Guernseys stand apart with their long flowing coats, warm golden coloring, moderate size, and famously gentle nature.

They are dairy goats, not fiber goats, and their natural coats are part of what makes the breed so distinctive. Add in their intelligence, affectionate personalities, and remarkable history, and it is easy to understand why people fall in love with them.

Our Philosophy

Our responsibility is to leave the Golden Guernsey healthier, stronger, and better understood than we found it.

We breed thoughtfully for health, productivity, longevity, and sound structure while protecting the moderate size, gentle temperament, and distinctive character that make the Golden Guernsey special.

For us, strengthening the breed means more than simply producing more goats or making them larger. We are focused on thoughtfully developing the American Guernsey within the framework of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA), using each generation to build toward a healthy, capable dairy goat while preserving the character of the breed.

How It Started

One little goat changed our direction.

We did not set out to become Golden Guernsey breeders. What began with a few bottle-fed dairy goats and a desire to provide fresh milk for our family eventually led us to one unforgettable little doe and, through her, to the Golden Guernsey.

We fell in love with the breed’s gentle nature, distinctive character, fascinating history, and uncertain future. That discovery grew into a commitment to help develop and share the Golden Guernsey in America.
